Art Therapy, mindfulness practices, and neuroscience- based EMDR treatment can help people of all ages heal and receive support for a wide variety of challenges, regardless of "artistic talent or ability". Utilizing creativity and supporting the nervous system with the support of a Licensed Professional Art Therapist can help manage and bring about positive changes to unhelpful behaviors, thoughts, & patterns. Feeling safe and seen in the therapeutic relationship allows for emotional release and powerful communication, a sense of mastery, supports self-compassion, improves relationships with ourselves and others, builds healthy coping skills and decision making skills, and fosters a sense of well-being.
Yoga and mindfulness practices can be incorporated into treatment to support overall wellness, to help resolve/manage chronic, general, and or traumatic stress, to bring about a deepened sense of emotional and physical awareness, to help decrease resistance to the therapeutic process, to manage excess energy and distractibility, and to create a sense of calm and centeredness.
EMDR/Bi-lateral stimulation can
help heal the nervous system and is designed to reprocess maladaptively stored experiences, memories, and or sensations that interfere with wellness and are seemingly "stuck". EMDR is one of the most highly researched treatment options for working through traumatic and upsetting experiences and the aftermath of them. It is not only helpful for resolving PTSD, but for a wide array of other concerns and struggles. This modality is based in neuroscience and does not require the client to verbally process traumatic events in great depth.
Wellness and mental health aren't merely absences of symptoms. Experiencing joy, being in a state of "flow", discovering personal meaning and evolution, developing a sense of mastery, and belonging are what makes us thrive, not just survive.
Those who seek an "alternative" path to emotional and behavioral health that is rooted in compassion, science, art, psychological theory, and evidence based practices can find it here. A wide variety of challenges can be addressed related to but not limited to: life adjustments, anxiety, depression, trauma, school stress, family dynamics, grief and loss, ADHD, Autism, and other neurodivergent conditions. I utilize and draw upon various therapeutic orientations depending on the client and their needs.
